Preliminary examinations are one of the most important parts of an autopsy. This stage helps to formulate the first theories of how the deceased may have passed and find out crucial details about them. These include identity, possible medical history, identifying features (e.g. skin colour, hair, eyes, tattoos etc.) and all visible injuries.
